1995 Comic Images Bone Series 2 All-Chromium continues the trading card adventures of Fone, Phoney and Smiley Bone but it does so with a lot more shine. Instead of being reserved for chase cards like in Series 1, chrome is used for all of the main set. Comic Images was still able to include some other inserts.

1995 Comic Images Bone Series 2 All-Chromium Checklist Details

The 90-card base set picks up from where Series 1 left off in the wake of the Great Cow Race. Cards all have color illustrations, which is in contrast to the comics they were originally based on. Today, because of the series’ immense growth under Scholastic, most know Bone as being in color. However, the original comics and collections that predate the publishing giant are in black and white. So this is some of the earliest color interpretations outside of covers and promotional materials.

The big difference here is the upgraded look and pop that chromium cards bring. There’s nothing wrong with Series 1, it’s just more on the traditional side with its base set. The use of chrome here adds a premium feel to the entire release.

While most of the set uses art taken from the comics, creator Jeff Smith did ten original pieces specifically for 1995 Comic Images Bone Series 2 All-Chromium.

There are no sketch cards to be found like in Series 1, but Smith did sign 500 cards. That said, the ink used for the autographs hasn’t held up well so finding one with a clean signature could be an even bigger challenge.

The six-card MagnaChrome set recreates covers while three Thorn MagnaChrome cards put the spotlight on the key character. There’s also a Medallion card that’s tough. It even has a serial number of the back but the actual number of total copies isn’t indicated.
