The 2002 Rittenhouse James Bond 40th Anniversary Autographs kick off one of the longest lines of signed cards the hobby has ever seen. Although the minimalist horizontal design was introduced here, it expanded over many, many more sets.

And while the set now numbers into the hundreds, the initial lot of James Bond 40th Anniversary Autographs includes more than 20 cards. Highlighting the crop is George Lazenby (James Bond in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service), Christopher Lee, Richard Kiel, Tanya Roberts, Joe Don Baker and Clifton James. For the Lazenby card, it’s the first for the franchise to be signed by a “Bond.”

Autographs land 1:10 packs of 2002 Rittenhouse James Bond 40th Anniversary. With a smaller box size of 20 packs, that works out to two per box.

In addition to the ones available in packs, a Patrick Macnee autograph is a case topper.

Those going through the checklist may notice that A4 is missing. It came along later with Serena Scott Thomas in 2004 Rittenhouse Quotable James Bond.

As the line moved forward, these sorts of gaps became fairly common. Rittenhouse doesn’t use redemptions and they often work far ahead to secure signers. The majority of these gaps close over time, though.

A few months after the main 40th Anniversary product, Rittenhouse put out an Expansion set. Each of these has three more autographs including Sean Bean. A total of 1,000 Expansion sets were released.
