1993 SkyBox Demolition Man trading cards cover one of the more memorable science fiction films of the early part of the decade. It’s got Sylvester Stallone, Wesley Snipes and his bleached hair and even some early ’90s product placement.
1993 SkyBox Demolition Man Checklist Details
The bulk of the release comes from the 100-card base set. The first 70 cards do a fairly standard recap of the movie’s story. It’s largely a showcase for its two lead stars.
To wrap up the back side of the checklist, there are three subsets. Characters and Behind-the-Scenes are fairly standard themes found in a lot of sets. Things get a little strange with the third section — GM Cars of the Future. If it were merely “Cars of the Future” it might not be that noteworthy. But by going specific with the brand, it’s emblematic of the growing connection between movies and advertising.
1993 SkyBox Demolition Man is the first mainstream set of trading cards to feature Oscar winner and Hollywood A-lister, Sandra Bullock. While she appears on a handful of cards in the set, her Character subset card (#72) is probably the most significant to those looking for celebrity first appearances.
The lone insert set in the product are four Foil cards. Landing 1:18 packs, collectors can expect two per box.
