The 1992 Comic Images Fangoria checklist take an interesting approach to bringing horror to the hobby. By focusing on the magazine — primarily its covers — the set has cards of several classic films and franchises, even if it’s not direct.
The 90-card base set is primarily cover recreations of the horror magazine. That means cards highlighting A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Godzilla, Child’s Play and more. It’s also a place where collectors will find some cards with lesser-known films that time has forgotten.
Normally something this extensive would be hard to do because of all the different layers of licensing. However, because it’s about the magazine, it’s okay. It’s similar to how 2013 Topps 75th Anniversary is able to do something similar as it centers on the history of Topps trading cards.
1992 Comic Images Fangoria isn’t only covers. Towards the end of the set are cards highlighting some of the magic of horror make-up.
Collectors have one insert set to chase with six Chromium cards. These land 1:16 packs.
Despite the subject matter, 1992 Comic Images Fangoria trading cards aren’t overly expensive today. They’re certainly solid movers but sets and singles are not too tough to come by today.
