While the 2014 Cryptozoic Walking Dead Season 3 Part 1 checklist has a lot of similar elements as the show’s first two releases, the approach is a different. It splits the season into two separate parts. But it’s not chronological. Rather, it’s based on characters and the two conflicting sides that were part of the show at that point.
2014 Cryptozoic Walking Dead Season 3 Part 1 Checklist Details
For Part 1, the base set centers on the group of survivors at the prison. Led by Rick, it also includes much of the show’s core characters. A total of 72 cards make up the main portion of the set. Key moments are captured. Like Cryptozoic’s other sets for The Walking Dead, the base set is all about what’s shown on screen. Any other themes, like characters or looks behind the scenes, are held for insert sets.
Parallels are available in four levels, all done on metal and all extremely rare. Full-Color Metal and Silver Metal versions both have four copies each. Gold drop to three. Finally, there are Red Metal parallels, all of which are one-of-ones.
Autographs and Memorabilia Cards
Autographs continue to be a box hit, combining to land 1:24 packs. It’s another crop of stellar signers including Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Norman Reedus (Daryl) and Melissa McBride (Carol). 2014 Cryptozoic Walking Dead Season 3 Part 1 is the first place collectors can find autograph cards of Danai Gurira who plays Michonne.
Season 3 Part 1 also adds autographed memorabilia cards that come with an added costume swatch. Among the seven offered here are McBride, Steven Yeun (Glenn) and Lauren Cohan (Maggie).
The 2014 Cryptozoic Walking Dead Season 3 Part 1 checklist has 30 total Wardrobe cards that come with pieces of costumes. However, only 27 of those are in standard hobby packs. The set’s binder has an exclusive as well. It’s the same for both Hot Topic and Walgreen’s packs.
The Season 2 Wardrobe cards checklist gets four additions here. There’s also a Prop card that has a bullet shell. Although numbered the same, the card has a couple of different layouts depending on the part of the casing that’s used.
There’s a new batch of sketch cards. Like Season 1 and Season 2, these are tough pulls at 1:288 packs. This has certainly helped the art cards maintain strong values over the years.
Other inserts include Grimes Family Shadowbox and The Prison, a set with foil barbed wire accents. Both of these have nine cards and 1:12 pack odds.
