2014 Topps Chrome Garbage Pail Kids OS2 is kind of like a sequel of a sequel. For starters, it follows up the previous year’s GPK Chrome debut. On the other, it’s a reprint of 1985’s Original Series 2, a release that helped entrench the schoolyard crude humor as part of 1980s iconography. The checklist does go beyond just giving the original cards a shiny makeover, adding some refreshed takes as well as a bit of a history lesson along the way.
2014 Topps Chrome Garbage Pail Kids OS2 Checklist Overview
The base set has 110 cards, which is noticeably bigger that the original Original Series 2. For starters, carrying on from Original Series 1, there are the 82 reprints, going from numbers 42 through 83, each with A and B name variations. Rappin’ Ron, Leaky Lindsay, Greaser Greg and Fryin’ Ryan are among the standouts in this series.
In addition to these is a 26-card Returning Garbage Pail Kids subset. These offer up new art for some familiar faces. While numbered separately from the regular set (ensuring continuity for future Topps Chrome GPK releases), these are considered base cards and have the full parallel lineup.
Speaking of which, there are several chase versions for all 110 base cards. Parallels include:

- Prism Refractors
- X-Fractors
- Black Refractors – #’ed/99
- Gold Refractors – #’ed/50
- Printing Plates – 1/1
- Superfractors – 1/1
Looking to the past are a couple of partial parallels.
John Pound signed copies of all 84 OS2 cards (not the Returning Garbage Pail Kids subset). His pencils that helped lay the groundwork for the series also get the insert treatment. Pencil Art cards are 1:3 packs.
Rounding out the 2014 Topps Chrome Garbage Pail Kids OS2 checklist are 20 C Name Variations. Inserted 1:100 packs, these give gags a third name. Given their odds, supply has largely dried up now.
Today, 2014 Topps Chrome Garbage Pail Kids OS2 cards carry solid values. Part of that has to do with the popularity of what it’s based on. Equally, if not more important, is the print run. At the time, it was an appropriate amount. But as the popularity of Garbage Pail Kids has continued to increase in the years since, sets and singles are somewhat tough to find, especially when compared to more recent releases.
