The 1995 Fleer Ultra Casper checklist offers up a slightly premium trading card interpretation of the surprising box office hit. Of course, “premium” meant something very different than today. Still, it’s a clean and slick set that’s surprisingly fun — kind of like the movie it’s based on.
1995 Fleer Ultra Casper Checklist Overview
At 119 cards, the base set is somewhat large by movie trading card standards but it’s not to the point where it’s bloated. It recaps the film, which stars Christina Ricci, Bill Pullman and a quartet of CG ghosts.
Going with the Fleer Ultra brand means it’s a little more upscale. The cards are glossy and get a full-fleed design that opens things up to large images. Captions use a favorite piece of card technology from the 1990s — gold foil.
The base set does have a bit of a mix-up. Numbers 13 and 77 do not exist. Instead, both #12 and #69 each have two different cards. The checklists that are part of the set have things correct, at least in what was intended. The mistake was never corrected.
1995 Fleer Ultra Casper has three additional insert sets, none of which are overly difficult to pull or complete.
Four holograms (1:12 packs) showcase each of the movie’s main ghosts: Casper, Stinkie, Fatso and Stretch.
A dozen Prismatic Foil cards of a shiny spin on some key visuals. Landing 1:3 packs, a hobby box with perfect collation could have a full set.
Finally, there’s Spectre Blast. These cards are chromium, offering something metallic and with lots of pop. These are inserted 1:4 packs.
