2007 Topps Halo trading cards take a dive into the groundbreaking and massively popular video game franchise. Going beyond just game play, the product touches a little on some of the bigger lore surrounding Master Chief and the checklist does what it can as far as inserts go despite not being an overly complex release.
2007 Topps Halo Checklist Details
The base set spans 90 total cards. Within it are dedicated sections to characters, weapons and vehicles as well as gameplay. While these make up the majority of the checklist, there are some other elements beyond the core game. Halo 3, which came out in September, 2007, has 11 preview cards. The “Halo Uprising” comic from Marvel is subject to another ten cards. There’s also an Art of Halo subset and some “New Visions” cards that have original artwork.
Speaking of art, that’s the theme of the most valuable inserts in the product. Sketch cards, which average one per hobby box, all have original art done directly on the card. Most live up to the sketch card name with a quick drawing, possibly inked. Color sketch cards are out they’re but they’re tough unless it’s an artist return — part of an allotment sent back to artists as part of their payment for working on the set. A dozen artists contributed 2007 Topps Halo sketch cards including Sean Pence, Tom Hodges and Kevin Graham. These are hobby-exclusives and not in retail packs.
Foil and Embossed Foil cards are both 1:6 packs. Standard Foil cards show battle scenes while Embossed Foil is a character-driven set.
Finally, there are five Flix-Pix lenticular cards. Landing 1:12 retail packs, they flip between images. Flix-Pix cannot be found in hobby packs.
2007 Topps Halo trading cards are fairly tough to find today. They’re out there, but singles can be a challenge to track down at a reasonable price. Boxes can run several hundred dollars now as well.
