Imagine if every card in a product has a hologram. And not just a plain hologram (if such a thing existed), but a 3-D-like hologram with original art and plenty of depth. Welcome to 1996 Fleer/SkyBox Superman Holo Series.
With a setup that’s chase cards from top to bottom, there isn’t much on the checklist. But even with a smaller selection of cards, there’s plenty to wrap your head around. All 50 base cards can be found with four different background colors.
Silver is generally considered to be the base version. Regular hobby and retail packs come with three Silver cards along with two Gold. However, a separate hobby version has only Gold cards.
In addition to there, Bronze are exclusive to Walmart packs. Two came in each along with Silver cards. Red cards arrived in specially marked boxes from Vintage. These boxes have only Red cards.
Images feature various characters that exist in Superman’s world — both good and bad. Backs have short write-ups told from Superman’s perspective.
While the set is all holograms, there are a couple of insert sets. Four HoloAction cards are inserted 1:3 hobby packs. Gold, Bronze and Red versions are distributed in the same fashion as the base cards.
HoloCel has just one card, which is inserted 1:36 hobby packs. This card looks transparent at first glance but when you shine it under light, the hologram shows up.
This set is similar to the 1996 Fleer/SkyBox Batman Holo Series release.
