Pocahontas may have marked Disney’s streak of blockbuster animated classics but it didn’t slow down the trading cards — or the print runs. 1995 SkyBox Pocahontas trading cards delve into the colorful and controversial film with a mix of simple cards and fun inserts.
1995 SkyBox Pocahontas Checklist Details
As one would expect, a big chunk of the 90-card base set revolves around retelling the film. Card fronts for these feature only a still from the movie. Backs offer the caption and recap. Among the subsets at the end of the checklist are character cards a puzzle and some advice from Mother Tree.
Every pack of 1995 SkyBox Pocahontas trading cards includes one of 12 different Pop-Up inserts. Often, these will be packaged together with the base set. Pop-Ups make standees of lead and supporting characters. Two additional Pop-Up cards were included in mini boxes.
Other inserts on the easier side include five 3-D Panorama cards and five shiny Dufex cards. There’s also a pair of Moving Animation lenticular cards. These are tough, landing 1:90 packs.
Whether it was the lack of popularity of the film, a large print run or a combination of the two, there’s no shortage of 1995 SkyBox Pocahontas trading cards today. Some dealers still have large amounts of unopened product. As a result, values are quite soft for all aspects of the release.
