Fancifully weird. That sums up 1995 Fleer Ultra MTV Animation trading cards, a set that uses one of the hobby’s leading premium brands at the time with the cable network’s groundbreaking cartoon block. With that comes lots of strange cards and standout inserts.
1995 Fleer Ultra MTV Animation Checklist Details
The 146-card base set covers four show, some of which are remembered more widely than others:
- Beavis and Butt-head
- The Brothers Grunt
- The Head
- The Maxx
It shouldn’t be surprising given the phenomenon status it held, but Beavis and Butt-head occupy the largest portion of the checklist. Nearly half of the cards are dedicated to the show. Each show gets its own section and within that are more specific subsets, typically based on characters and select episodes.
Like other Fleer Ultra sets, quality is one of the highlights. Glossy stock and gold foil highlights run throughout.
Both Beavis and Butt-head and The Maxx have their standalone sets, although the latter centers on the comic book.
The 1995 Fleer Ultra MTV Animation checklist has three additional insert sets.
Aeon Flux Chromium (15 cards, 1:4 packs) add another show to the mix. The metallic look is a strong fit for the anime-inspired series.
Four Holograms (1:12 packs) and 18 Prismatic Foil Puzzle (1:2 packs) round things out.
