Although they come from the third film, the 2004 Artbox Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Costume cards are the first for the franchise. This is the first movie the card maker had the license for. It was the first of something big for both the company and collectors.

Both the main Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and follow-up Update release had memorabilia cards as a central part of their respective products.

The initial set didn’t have a large print run. Just six costume cards made their way into regular hobby packs. On top of those are three additional cards distributed exclusively in the UK.

First series Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Costume cards combine with Prop cards to land 1:24 hobby packs. They’re not in retail for this set.

With the runaway success of the first set, 2004 Artbox Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Update saw a massive increase in the production run. And the costume cards are evidence of this. There are more of them and many have much larger print runs.

The number available in hobby packs jumped to 19. On top of those are a pair of retail exclusives and two UK case incentives.

In hobby packs, costume cards fall approximately 1:36 packs. The two retail costume cards are 1:24 packs.

As they would be for all of Artbox’s Harry Potter sets, costume cards are all serial numbered. That said, there is quite a range. The toughest in these sets are limited to 100 copies. On the other end of the spectrum, some in Update top 2,500.

Main characters are abundant with Harry, Hermione and Ron all having multiple memorabilia cards across both sets.
