2011 Leaf Family Guy Seasons 3, 4 and 5 trading cards mimic the show’s television journey in that it marked a restart following a break. This time, instead of a traditional pack and box format, it’s more of a premium factory set that includes some chase elements. Besides a complete base set, boxes have an autograph plus two additional inserts.
Family Guy got trading cards early in its run courtesy of Inkworks. They did sets for seasons 1 and 2 as well as the first Star Wars-inspired episode. Leaf resurrected the show for trading cards a couple of years after Inkworks’ demise, this time around combining three seasons into a single release.
2011 Leaf Family Guy Seasons 3, 4 and 5 Checklist Overview
The base set has a modest 50 cards. Individual cards cover a specific episode (not all are covered) with an image on the front and recap on the back.
It doesn’t offer as much depth as the earlier Inkworks sets but it does bring a sense of continuity after the initial card line didn’t get a long run.
The 2011 Leaf Family Guy Seasons 3, 4 and 5 checklist has 17 different autographs. Although there are a couple of key character actors from the show, it’s the celebrity guest stars that stand out. Headlining the list of signers are Star Wars stars Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. Lou Gossett Jr., Patrick Stewart, Gina Gershon and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air‘s Alfonso Ribeiro also have autographs in the set.
Sketch cards are the other big inserts in the product. Landing approximately 1:6 boxes (two per case), each of these are unique i the sense that they have original artwork. Adding another layer to these is the fact that nine artists who contributed all worked on the show.
Meet the Characters is a set of ten die-cut cards. These are also fairly tough, falling 1:4 boxes (three per case).
Twenty-four Quotables cards round out the checklist. These are done on chromium stock and have Prismatic (/70), Blue Prismatic (/25), Red Prismatic (/5), Super Prismatic (1/1) and Printing Plate (1/1) parallels.
2011 Leaf Family Guy Seasons 3, 4 and 5 has a production run of 300 cases. With 12 per case, a total of 3,600 boxes were made.
