2023 Donruss Football Downtown marks the sixth year for the popular inserts. Once again, they combine a strong checklist of superstars, rookies and legends with a fun take on the cities they play in. Besides the main Downtown set, 2023 Donruss Football has a couple of thematic spinoffs as well that could prove to be much more difficult to find in the long run.

No matter the sport, Panini’s Downtown inserts are some of the most whimsical in the hobby. Backgrounds take landmarks and city symbols and run them through the Mickey’s Toon Town ringer, giving them a cartoonish style. Throw in the foil stock that they’re printed on and it’s easy to see why they’re so distinct.

The main 2023 Donruss Football Downtown checklist has 20 cards. Highlights include current superstars Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow, rookie QBs CJ Stroud and Bryce Young, and all-timers Joe Montana and Dan Marino.

Taking a similar but slightly different approach are International Downtown and Super Bowl Downtown. The cartoon landmark backgrounds are still there but instead of the player’s city, these spotlight specific games and cities from the International Series and the Super Bowl.

As far as modern inserts go, Downtown cards tend to bring big prices and strong values, even over the longterm. Part of this is because a lot of collectors like them. But rarity is also a key. While exact 2023 Donruss Football Downtown cards aren’t known, Panini’s hobby sales sheet mentioned the regular Downtown cards were case hits. So tough at the one level. But because they’re also available in retail the overall numbers shift and print runs aren’t known.

Where to Find 2023 Donruss Football Downtown Cards

2023 Donruss Football has several different pack and box configurations. Overall, hobby has the most as far as premium content like low-numbered cards and frequency for autographs and memorabilia cards. It’s also the only place to find all three 2023 Donruss Football Downtown sets. International Downtown and Super Bowl Downtown are exclusive to hobby packs.

For those shopping at retail places like Walmart and Target, 2023 Donruss Football Downtown inserts are in blasters, mega boxes and cello fat packs. However, it’s just the main 20-card set.

Because International Downtown and Super Bowl Downtown are only in hobby, they appear to be more rare than the core set. Based on eBay listings, they’re much scarcer. However, Panini has not released production numbers so any numbers being thrown around should be taken as speculation and not confirmed.
