1991 Pro Set Super Stars MusiCards UK has the same overall theme and look of its American counterpart, but it’s an entirely different set. Depending on your taste in tunes, it might even be a better set.
Consisting of 150 cards, the UK set is a smaller release. The version released in the United States has 340 total cards — 260 in the original release and another 80 with an expansion.
1991 Pro Set Super Stars MusiCards UK Checklist Details
The checklist covers a lot of the most popular music acts at the time as well as some in the years prior. Unlike Pro Set’s Yo MTV Raps, Super Stars MusiCards don’t stick to one genre. Pop, rap, rock, new wave, punk and even some classics are included in the set. Madonna, U2 and Janet Jackson are among the biggest names in the set. This was 1991, so MC Hammer and Vanilla are also prominent on the checklist.
But 1991 Pro Set Super Stars MusiCards UK has several iconic names that aren’t in the American set. The Beatles, Elvis Presley, David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, to name a few.
Although the layout between the UK and US sets are similar, there is a quick way to tell them apart without having to memorize nearly 500 different cards. On the backs, UK cards have a plain white background once you get past the borders. The American set has a yellow animal print tiled throughout the back.
Despite the European distribution, 1991 Pro Set Super Stars MusiCards UK is not hard to find, even overseas. It’s the same with virtually every product from the card maker — they printed a lot of cards. Still, prices have been rising in recent years for both unopened boxes and singles. Part of that is the rise of professionally graded cards. Here, gem mint cards can fetch a lot more than raw cards, particularly since there are so many big names who really don’t have a lot of trading cards.
