2000 SkyBox Star Trek Cinema 2000 trading cards bring take the franchise from the television screen to the big screen. The set is an anthology of sorts for the first nine Star Trek films. It’s a comprehensive release that includes a variety of inserts, both easy and challenging plus a sizeable autographs checklist.
The base set is considered to have 100 cards. But it breaks down a little different than normal. The first 82 are your basic movie cards, looking at the characters and key scenes from the movies. The final 18 are numbered differently, acting like traditional subsets. The Dark Side looks at villains of the Cinematic Star Trek Universe. Female Guest Stars spotlight some of the ladies who appeared in the films and the actresses who played them.
All 100 cards have Silver parallels that are combined to land every other pack.
2000 SkyBox Star Trek Cinema 2000 Autographs and Inserts
Considering the era, the 24-card Star Trek Cinema 2000 Autographs checklist is large. Like the rest of the set, signers span the various movies. Signers include Patrick Stewart, Nichelle Nichols, George Takei and Jonathan Frakes. For fans of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, there’s Alan Ruck as well.
2000 SkyBox Star Trek Cinema 2000 has several basic insert sets as well. Most are fairly easy to put together but a couple are not. Movie Posters (nine cards, 1:2 packs), Alien Worlds (nine cards, 1:3) and Saluting the Captains (nine cards, 1:6) are the easiest to find. There’s also a nine-card tribute to Dr. McCoy (1:12) that’s done in a lenticular style.
Finally, there’s the die-cut Galactic Conflix set. The basic version, which has the cards numbered to 1000 copies each, is found 1:43 packs. However, these have a pair of tougher parallel versions numbered to 750 and 250. Besides the serial numbers, the only major difference is some of the coloring.
