Because his surrealist paintings weren’t apparently already appealing enough to carry a traditional set, there’s 1995 Comic Images Salvador Dali All-Chromium trading cards. The release gives his paintings and other works of art a metallic shine that makes things stand out even more.

The 90-card base set acts as an alternative sort of exhibit for Dali’s works. All are recreated on chrome stock that was still relatively new at the time and starting to catch on at a broader scale. While the art takes on multiple styles, it’s all distinctly Dali. That means fantastical dreamscapes and reality-bending scenes.
Fronts let the art stand on its own alongside the shiny chrome. Backs offer up a look at the artist and his work with lots of facts and trivia.

Horseplay (six cards, 1:16 packs) and Precious Time (three cards, 1:36 packs) both add a background pattern called MagnaChrome here. It’s similar to more recent Atomic Refractors from Topps and Cracked Ice parallels by Panini.
Joining these are a pair of scarce standalone inserts. A Medallion card lands 1:108 packs, or approximately every third box. There’s also a 24-Karat Gold Signature card that has a print runs of 500 copies.
Today, 1995 Comic Images Salvador Dali All-Chromium is a tough set to find. Sets, boxes and even packs don’t surface much, which can make for some decent prices.
