2023 Super7 GI Joe trading cards are a throwback of sorts, hearkening back to the line’s iconic ’80s run and the classic artwork that adorned the figures, vehicles and playsets.
It’s also relatively scarce, made exclusively for San Diego Comic-Con.
The main set has just 24 cards, all but one of which are members of GI Joe or Cobra. Plenty of big names are included like Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow and Destro. However, there are some more obscure “army builder” types like a Joe trooper and Cobra Snakeling. Each is based on a figure Super7 has made with its increasingly extensive run with the line.
Images are done in the same style as the original packaging that is now engrained on an entire generation of ’80s kids (and probably some of their kids as well).
In addition to the main set, there are 24 Rainbow Foil cards. Landing one per pack, these are essentially parallels. However, numbering is part of the base set, taking things from #25 through #48.
One final piece of nostalgia comes with the packs themselves, which are done as throwback wax packs.
