If you’re busting packs of 2012 NECA Hunger Games trading cards, you’re probably going to get bored very quickly. But if you dig deeper into the checklist and look outside the product’s main release, you get one of the best autograph lineups ever.
The main set is extremely basic. A total of 72 cards make up the base set. It’s divided into three core sections. Character profiles lead things off. This is also the only place on the 2012 NECA Hunger Games Games checklist where you’ll find any content beyond images. Backs offer up short bios. Movie cards, which make up the bulk of the set, have the same still on the front and back. The featured character’s name is all the text you’ll find outside of copyright info. Finally, there’s a nine-card puzzle that makes up a poster.
Packs hold no additional inserts.
However, the set doesn’t end there. A nine-card expansion is exclusive to Deluxe Edition CDs for the movie’s soundtrack.
On top of those, there are also 24 Walmart-exclusive cards that carry on with the main set’s numbering, taking a master base set up to 105 cards. These were available in packs made for the movie’s release on DVD where select stores held special events. These packs are also home to the only cards falling outside the base set — and they’re doozies.
2012 NECA Hunger Games Autographs
Yes, there are 2012 NECA Hunger Games autographs. No, you’re not going to find them in traditional packs. Rather, they were randomly inserted in the Walmart-exclusive DVD release party packs.
The set has a total of ten signers, including lead and Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence. Others include Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Jack Quaid, who has since gone on to star in The Boys.
Needless to say, these carry significant values, even for the non-stars. The Jennifer Lawrence ranks among the top certified autograph cards ever produced.
While the 2012 NECA Hunger Games autographs look almost exactly like the corresponding character cards and don’t carry any sort of signature authentication note, there is one major difference. Autographs are numbered A1 through A10.
