2012 Stellar Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Decade of Supermodels marks the end of the company’s run covering the annual magazine. That said, it also takes a very different approach with more of a ‘greatest hits’ feel instead of the usual yearly releases that ran from 2003 through 2009.
Rather than the traditional pack and box approach used in the earlier Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue products from Stellar, this one goes with a premium box set format. Getting one of these boxes means a fully factory set plus an assortment of other inserts including three memorabilia cards. The checklist does not have any autographs.

From a model perspective, the 70-card base set is the most comprehensive Stellar did with the license. The annual sets usually meant several cards per model. Due to the nature of this one, they’re all different. Living up to the set’s title, there are plenty of big names as well including Heidi Klum, Elle Macpherson, Paulina Porizkova and Bar Refaeli. In addition to the supermodels, there are several celebrities from outside of the modelling world who had magazine appearances such as Beyonce, Danica Patrick and Maria Sharapova.
Base cards and standard inserts have Printing Plates that combine to land 1:4 box sets.
Without autographs, relics become the primary hit. Boxes are generous in this regard. For starters, there are two of 20 standard Memorabilia Cards per set. Collectors also get an additional Danica Patrick Memorabilia card. Ten make up this set.
2012 Stellar Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Decade of Supermodels has three additional insert sets: Celebrities, Natural Colors and Decade’s Best. Each has ten cards with four landing in each set.
2012 Stellar Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Decade of Supermodels has a production run of 140 cases, each with 12 sets.
