1992 Star Pics Saturday Night Live trading cards cover more than a quarter of a century of the television institution. Classic characters, iconic skits and legendary comedians all converge on the expansive checklist. There’s even some intrigue in the form of a handful of rare autographs.
1992 Star Pics Saturday Night Live Checklist Details
The 150-card base set goes back to the show’s beginning and runs through to the early ’90s when the trading cards came out. Everything uses images from the show, highlighting specific skits, recurring characters or the performers who played them. Flipping through the set shows just how impressive the cast has been over the decades. John Belushi, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, Phil Hartman, Mike Myers, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler and Chris Farley are just some of the familiar faces on the checklist. And then there are characters like the Samurai, Landshark, Wayne and Garth, a couple of wild and crazy guys, the Blues Brothers and more.
One notable omission, though is Eddie Murphy. That also means no Gumby or Buckwheat.
1992 Star Pics Saturday Night Live does have autographs, but they’re extremely scarce. Farley, Sandler, Hartman and Myers are among the signers, making for a legendary lineup.
Signed on the back, they’re just like base cards. Outside of the signature, the only difference is a special Star Pics sticker on the back. The problem is, these stickers could easily be pulled off of lesser Star Pics autographs from other releases and used to make fakes here and in the company’s Twin Peaks release. Collectors should take extra caution with these, especially the marquee names, which can fetch thousands.
Truthfully, there’s no shortage of this set out there. Although it’s not known was made, the production run was a generous one and there’s lots of it out there. While the popularity and value of the release has grown in recent years, there’s still plenty of it out there.

Very cool that they gave cards to some of those great fake commercials–Colon Blow, Shimmer, Happy Fun Ball, the Bass-O-Matic. Wish they had included Quarry too.
