2003 Artbox Simpsons FilmCardz is the second set of trading cards to use the distinct format. While they are cards, they also resemble film slides, giving them a unique look and feel. With the base cards on the same level as inserts in other products, there’s not much else to the release save for a handful of thematic chase cards that aren’t that much different.
2003 Artbox Simpsons FilmCardz Checklist Details
The base set has just 45 cards. The checklist is split into five different nine-card subsets:
- Homey Style
- Springfield Stars
- Springfield Citizens
- Master of the Grill
- Nuclear Family
Obviously, Springfield’s first family get a starring role, but there’s a nice mix of supporting characters as well that give the show a lot of its flavor.
Two foil-framed insert sets both take on playing card themes, converting characters into something that might resemble what you’d find in a deck. That said, they’re still FilmCardz. There’s also the fact that they don’t make up a full deck, which would make a game of bridge difficult. There are six Follow Suit Rare Foil cards plus three more Ultra-Rare.
Tins with five packs, a viewer and one of three exclusive cards were also available for 2003 Artbox Simpsons Filmcardz. A card viewer was also sold separately. That said, with a well-lit area, the set can easily be enjoyed on their own.
